Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 102
البقرة · The Cow · verse 102 of 286
وَاتَّبَعُوا مَا تَتْلُو الشَّيَاطِينُ عَلَىٰ مُلْكِ سُلَيْمَانَ وَمَا كَفَرَ سُلَيْمَانُ وَلَٰكِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ كَفَرُوا يُعَلِّمُونَ النَّاسَ السِّحْرَ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَى الْمَلَكَيْنِ بِبَابِلَ هَارُوتَ وَمَارُوتَ وَمَا يُعَلِّمَانِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ حَتَّىٰ يَقُولَا إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فِتْنَةٌ فَلَا تَكْفُرْ فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَا مَا يُفَرِّقُونَ بِهِ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَزَوْجِهِ وَمَا هُمْ بِضَارِّينَ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنْفَعُهُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُوا لَمَنِ اشْتَرَاهُ مَا لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَاقٍ وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْا بِهِ أَنْفُسَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ
WaittabaAAoo ma tatloo alshshayateenu AAala mulki sulaymana wama kafara sulaymanu walakinna alshshayateena kafaroo yuAAallimoona alnnasa alssihra wama onzila AAala almalakayni bibabila haroota wamaroota wama yuAAallimani min ahadin hatta yaqoola innama nahnu fitnatun fala takfur fayataAAallamoona minhuma ma yufarriqoona bihi bayna almari wazawjihi wama hum bidarreena bihi min ahadin illa biithni Allahi wayataAAallamoona ma yadurruhum wala yanfaAAuhum walaqad AAalimoo lamani ishtarahu ma lahu fee alakhirati min khalaqin walabisa ma sharaw bihi anfusahum law kanoo yaAAlamoona

Hilali & KhanThey followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulayman (Solomon). Sulayman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut, but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us)." And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves, if they but knew.

Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)اور اس چیز کے پیچھے لگ گئے جسے شیاطین (حضرت) سلیمان کی حکومت میں پڑھتے تھے۔ سلیمان نے تو کفر نہ کیا تھا، بلکہ یہ کفر شیطانوں کا تھا، وه لوگوں کو جادو سکھایا کرتے تھے، اور بابل میں ہاروت ماروت دو فرشتوں پرجو اتارا گیا تھا، وه دونوں بھی کسی شخص کو اس وقت تک نہیں سکھاتے تھے جب تک یہ نہ کہہ دیں کہ ہم تو ایک آزمائش ہیں تو کفر نہ کر، پھر لوگ ان سے وه سیکھتے جس سے خاوند وبیوی میں جدائی ڈال دیں اور دراصل وه بغیر اللہ تعالیٰ کی مرضی کے کسی کو کوئی نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکتے، یہ لوگ وه سیکھتے ہیں جو انہیں نقصان پہنچائے اور نفع نہ پہنچا سکے، اور وه بالیقین جانتے ہیں کہ اس کے لینے والے کا آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہیں۔ اور وه بدترین چیز ہے جس کے بدلے وه اپنے آپ کو فروخت کر رہے ہیں، کاش کہ یہ جانتے ہوتے
