Surah Ali 'Imran, Ayah 156
آل عمران · Family of Imran · verse 156 of 200
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَقَالُوا لِإِخْوَانِهِمْ إِذَا ضَرَبُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ أَوْ كَانُوا غُزًّى لَوْ كَانُوا عِنْدَنَا مَا مَاتُوا وَمَا قُتِلُوا لِيَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ ذَٰلِكَ حَسْرَةً فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ وَاللَّهُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la takoonoo kaallatheena kafaroo waqaloo liikhwanihim itha daraboo fee alardi aw kanoo ghuzzan law kanoo AAindana ma matoo wama qutiloo liyajAAala Allahu thalika hasratan fee quloobihim waAllahu yuhyee wayumeetu waAllahu bima taAAmaloona baseerun

Hilali & KhanO you who believe! Be not like those who disbelieve and who say to their brethren when they travel through the earth or go out to fight: "If they had stayed with us, they would not have died or been killed," so that Allah may make it a cause of regret in their hearts. It is Allah that gives life and causes death. And Allah is All-Seer of what you do.
Urdu translation
Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)اے ایمان والو! تم ان لوگوں کی طرح نہ ہو جانا جنہوں نے کفر کیا اور اپنے بھائیوں کے حق میں جب کہ وه سفر میں ہوں یا جہاد میں ہوں، کہا کہ اگر یہ ہمارے پاس ہوتے تو نہ مرتے اور نہ مارے جاتے، اس کی وجہ یہ تھی کہ اس خیال کو اللہ تعالیٰ ان کی دلی حسرت کا سبب بنا دے، اللہ تعالیٰ جلاتا ہے اور مارتا ہے اور اللہ تمہارے عمل کو دیکھ رہا ہے
