Surah An-Nisa, Ayah 153
النساء · The Women · verse 153 of 176
يَسْأَلُكَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَنْ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَابًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَقَدْ سَأَلُوا مُوسَىٰ أَكْبَرَ مِنْ ذَٰلِكَ فَقَالُوا أَرِنَا اللَّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُوا الْعِجْلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَنْ ذَٰلِكَ وَآتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ سُلْطَانًا مُبِينًا
Yasaluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzila AAalayhim kitaban mina alssamai faqad saaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arina Allaha jahratan faakhathathumu alssaAAiqatu bithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu faAAafawna AAan thalika waatayna moosa sultanan mubeenan

Hilali & KhanThe People of the Scripture (Jews) ask you to cause a book to descend upon them from heaven. Indeed, they asked Musa for even greater than that, when they said: "Show us Allah in public," but they were struck with a bolt of lightning for their wickedness. Then they worshipped the calf even after Al-Bayyinat had come to them. (Even) so We forgave them. And We gave Musa a clear proof of authority.

Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)آپ سے یہ اہل کتاب درخواست کرتے ہیں کہ آپ ان کے پاس کوئی آسمانی کتاب ﻻئیں، حضرت موسیٰ (علیہ السلام) سے تو انہوں نے اس سے بہت بڑی درخواست کی تھی کہ ہمیں کھلم کھلا اللہ تعالیٰ کو دکھا دے، پس ان کے اس ﻇلم کے باعﺚ ان پر کڑاکے کی بجلی آ پڑی پھر باوجودیکہ ان کے پاس بہت دلیلیں پہنچ چکی تھیں انہوں نے بچھڑے کو اپنا معبود بنا لیا، لیکن ہم نے یہ بھی معاف فرما دیا اور ہم نے موسیٰ کو کھلا غلبہ (اور صریح دلیل) عنایت فرمائی
