Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 235
البقرة · The Cow · verse 235 of 286
وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا عَرَّضْتُمْ بِهِ مِنْ خِطْبَةِ النِّسَاءِ أَوْ أَكْنَنْتُمْ فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ عَلِمَ اللَّهُ أَنَّكُمْ سَتَذْكُرُونَهُنَّ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا تُوَاعِدُوهُنَّ سِرًّا إِلَّا أَنْ تَقُولُوا قَوْلًا مَعْرُوفًا وَلَا تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَةَ النِّكَاحِ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ فَاحْذَرُوهُ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ
Wala junaha AAalaykum feema AAarradtum bihi min khitbati alnnisai aw aknantum fee anfusikum AAalima Allahu annakum satathkuroonahunna walakin la tuwaAAidoohunna sirran illa an taqooloo qawlan maAAroofan wala taAAzimoo AAuqdata alnnikahi hatta yablugha alkitabu ajalahu waiAAlamoo anna Allaha yaAAlamu ma fee anfusikum faihtharoohu waiAAlamoo anna Allaha ghafoorun haleemun

Hilali & KhanAnd there is no sin on you if you make a hint of betrothal or conceal it in yourself, Allah knows that you will remember them, but do not make a promise (of contract) with them in secret except that you speak an honorable saying. And do not be determined on the marriage bond until the term prescribed is fulfilled. And know that Allah knows what is in your minds, so fear Him. And know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.

Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)تم پر اس میں کوئی گناه نہیں کہ تم اشارةً کنایتہً ان عورتوں سے نکاح کی بابت کہو، یا اپنے دل میں پوشیده اراده کرو، اللہ تعالیٰ کو علم ہے کہ تم ضرور ان کو یاد کرو گے، لیکن تم ان سے پوشیده وعدے نہ کرلو ہاں یہ اور بات ہے کہ تم بھلی بات بوﻻ کرو اور عقد نکاح جب تک کہ عدت ختم نہ ہوجائے پختہ نہ کرو، جان رکھو کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کو تمہارے دلوں کی باتوں کا بھی علم ہے، تم اس سے خوف کھاتے رہا کرو اور یہ بھی جان رکھو کہ اللہ تعالیٰ بخشش اور علم واﻻ ہے
